The George Tedford Memorial Scholarship Fund is a program designed to award a $1,500 scholarship to a talented, motivated Jenks High School Senior Student-Athlete who has demonstrated leadership potential and desires to pursue a career in business and a full-time undergraduate degree. Consistent with the example he set, this scholarship is reserved for a student-athlete who excels both in the classroom and on the field and desires to be a business leader in his or her community. This scholarhip was established in 2005 through the generosity of the Jenks Chamber of Commerce and the Tedford Family.
I am pleased to announce that the winner of this year’s George E. Tedford Memorial Scholarship is Brooks Taylor Phipps.
Brooks is the daughter of Paul and Janet Phipps. She is a Jenks Gymnastics State Champion and has enjoyed running track the last two years for the Jenks High School Track team. Brooks is honored to represent JHS as a National Honor Society Member, DECA Sweetheart and Homecoming Attendant. Brooks is also active in Drug Free Youth and Student Council. Brooks is very involved in her church at Redeemer Covenant and serves with the student leadership program. She is very passionate about Missions and has gone to Guatamala the last three years and has had the privilege to mix and pour concrete floors for families who live on dirt floors. She will be attending the University of Oklahoma in the fall and plans to major in education. After coaching gymnastics with younger girls, she realized how much she wanted to teach elementary school and sees that in her future after college.
